Miracle Principle 1

Principle 1: There is no order of difficulty in miracles. One is not "harder" or "bigger" than another. They are all the same. All expressions of love are maximal. (T-1.I.1)

According to the laws which govern this world, everything which occurs here evinces differences and orders of difficulty. The miracle, therefore, has a unique function, and is motivated by a unique Teacher Who brings the laws of another world to this one. The miracle is the one thing that transcends order in this world because the miracle is based on equality instead of differences. The miracle gives equal blessing to all who share in it. It is why everyone shares in it, because it is a belief in perfect equality.

Only one equal gift can be offered to the equal Sons of God, and that is full appreciation. Nothing more and nothing less. Without a "range," order of difficulty is meaningless, and there must be no range in what we offer to our brother. Love is complete and full for all of us with our Father. Yet while appearing to live in this world, we may display the temptation to be parsimonious with love and appreciation. Surely, we may reason, there are some people who are more deserving than others, or perhaps there are some we may prefer sharing love with more than others. Or perhaps our minds are drawn elsewhere, and we are not focusing on who is in front of us; we forgot to be alert.

However, God always loves all his children equally and therefore so must we. This is something miracle workers must learn so as to be truly effective and unbiased in their work. God's equal love is the inspiring factor in sharing all miracles! Recognition of this will come when miracles are applied to all situations as Jesus directs. Giver and receiver become one with Him. There is a powerfully uplifting joy in being a miracle worker -- as we share God's love with all our brothers, we are simultaneously aware of His love in us!

It is a comfort to know that the miracle offers exactly the same response to every call for help. It does not judge the call. It does not consider which call is louder or greater or more important, or even who is calling. It merely recognizes what it is, a call for help, and answers accordingly. The power of all His Love will be present in any and every miracle offered to His Son. How, then, can there be any order of difficulty among them? The power of God is limitless. And always being maximal, it offers everything to every call from everyone. A call for help is simply given help. There is no order of difficulty in that.

Some miracles may seem to be of greater magnitude than others. Certainly, some miracles are so uncommon that they appear to us to be "harder" to effect or "bigger" than another. The parting of the Red Sea seems to most everyone to be an uncommon miracle. Yet we also experience an abundance of joy at what seems to be even the tiniest of miracles. ALL miracles have a joyous ripple effect as ALL miracles share the same Light. To God the size is not a factor; therefore, in truth, it is not a factor to us. He is totally unperturbed at whatever is to be done, and as we become experienced in bestowing miracles, we remember our imperturbability, too.

The miracles the Holy Spirit inspires can have no order of difficulty, because every part of creation is of one order. The Holy Spirit always seeks to unify and heal. Healing is the way to undo the belief in differences. Joining in recognizing our Oneness is the way of perceiving the Sonship (all of God's creation) as one. As miracles awaken us to enlightenment, we are healed and able to remember who we are. The strength of right perception is then so great that it brings the mind into accord with His, because it serves His Voice, Which is in all of us. When our minds are completely in accord with His, we are enlightened.

There is no order of difficulty in miracles, for they are all the same. Each is a gentle winning over from the appeal of guilt to the appeal of love. How can this fail to be accomplished, wherever it is undertaken? Guilt can raise no real barriers against love. The attraction of guilt is nothing more than the fear of love. When love has been offered in all its maximal glory, it will be welcome. Envision it. All the barriers that stand between you and love must then fall away. When truth is presented, errors fall by the wayside and the light shines forth unimpeded. The miracle itself is but the witness of the power of God and His love.

Whatever untruths you may believe are of no concern to the miracle; it can heal any of them with equal ease. Its sole concern is to distinguish between truth on the one hand, and error on the other. Even though the error may appear to be of great magnitude, remember there is no order of difficulty in miracles. There is no order of difficulty in anything wherever GOD IS.

Prayer:

Father, I look upon everyone as my equal brother today. My brothers are Your Sons. Your Fatherhood created them and gave them all to me as part of you, and my own Self as well. Today I honor You through them, and thus I hope this day to recognize my Self. Amen.
