Workbook Review Lessons 218-224

I am not a body. I am free. For I am still as God created me.

Lesson 218: Review of Lesson 198

(198) Only my condemnation injures me.

“My condemnation keeps my vision dark, and through my sightless eyes I cannot

see the vision of my glory. Yet today I can behold this glory and be glad.”

(1:2-3)

Where do you think condemnation begins? Does it begin with your brother’s behavior? Does it begin when you perceive his behavior? Does it begin when you judge his behavior? Does it begin before you are even aware of your brother’s presence?

Condemnation begins when the choice is made to see with the ego. Therefore it is not so much a matter of what you see, or how you see it; as it is a matter of with what you see. If you see your brother with your eyes, you have condemned him already by seeing him as a body. Yet if you see him with Christ’s vision, the Holy Spirit will show you what is real. Only the light of love is real.

This world has many seeming separate haunts where mercy has no meaning, and where condemnation and attack often appear as normal and as justified. Yet all of these haunts are one: a place where death is offered to God’s Son and to his Father. But look again, this time with the Holy Spirit shining His light upon the world; you will perceive a miracle of life where you saw death. The stillness of your Self remains unaware of all forms of condemnation which could need forgiveness.

Forgiveness is the only road that leads out of disaster, past all suffering, and finally away from death. How could there be another way, when this one way is the plan of God Himself? And why would you oppose it, seek to find a thousand ways in which it must be wrong, or look for other possibilities? Is it wiser to be glad you hold the answer to your problems in your hand, given you by God Himself? Is it more gracious to thank the One Who gives salvation, and accept His gift with gratitude? And is it even a kindness to yourself to hear His Voice and learn the simple lessons He would teach, instead of trying to dismiss His words and substitute your own in place of His? Be assured that it is not holier to hold grievances than to forgive. Holding grievances is not now and never will be God’s Plan for you to reach happiness and Heaven. Darkness does not lead to light; light leads out of the darkness.

His words will work. His words will save. His words contain all hope, all blessing and all joy that ever can be found upon this earth. So listen, attend to His words, learn and share them, see truly and FORGIVE.

Theme of Relevance 1: What is Forgiveness?

Forgiveness recognizes what you thought your brother did to you has not occurred. It does not pardon sins and make them real. It sees there was no sin. And in that view, then, are all your sins forgiven. Sin is simply a false idea about God's Son. Forgiveness sees its falsity and therefore lets it go. What takes its place, then, is the Will of God. Forgiveness is still, and quietly does nothing. It merely looks, and waits, and does not judge. He who would not forgive must judge, for he must justify his failure to forgive. But he who would forgive himself must learn to welcome truth exactly as it is. Do nothing, then, and let forgiveness show you what to do, through Him Who is your Guide, your Savior and Protector. Forgive whom He honors as the Son of God.

Lesson 219: Review of Lesson 199

(199) I am not a body. I am free.

Freedom must be impossible as long as you perceive a body as yourself. How can you be “free” as long as you perceive that you are encapsulated in a physical form that appears vulnerable to all forms of attack and injustice: sickness, aging and death (to name a few). The mind can be made free when it no longer sees itself in a body, firmly tied to it, sheltered by its presence and attached to it in fear.

The mind that has attached itself to love, however, cannot harbor fear. It rests in God. And who can be afraid who lives in Innocence and only loves? Simply declare your innocence and you are free. The body will disappear because you have no need of it except the need the Holy Spirit sees. For this, the body will appear as a useful form which helps forgiveness be extended to all the world.

“I am not a body. I am free. I hear the Voice That God has given me,

and it is only This my mind obeys.”

(8:7-9)

Lesson 220: Review of Lesson 200

(200) There is no peace except the peace of God. There is nothing else for you to find in this world except the peace of God. And yet, how much time, focus, dedication and perseverance do you actually devote to finding God’s peace? A lot? A little? You must change your mind about the purpose of the world, if you would find escape from pain and misery. You will be bound till all the world is seen by you as blessed, and everyone is made free of your mistakes and honored as he is.

Brother, come home. Home is Heaven, and the path is straight. God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit and legions of Helpers will guide your footsteps, leading you out of the wilderness of chaos, confusion and lack – and into Your Father’s Loving Arms. He can see the forest for the trees. Attune to His Voice, only His.

Lesson 221: Peace to my mind. Let all my thoughts be still.

Jesus tells us in this lesson that “God is here, because we wait together. I am sure that He will speak to you, and you will hear.” Jesus is the perfect manifestation of the Holy Spirit; thus he is also the manifestation of God’s Voice. When Jesus says that God is here, then you can believe him. When he tells you to wait in quiet and God will reveal Himself unto His Son; you can believe that, too. Be wise and accept the confidence of Jesus as yours. It IS yours. In truth, all that Jesus is -- you are.

Lesson 222: God is with me. I live and move in Him.

It is not only possible but easy for you to remember God -- when He is your Source of life, the air you breathe, the food by which you are sustained, and the water which renews and cleanses you. He is your home wherein you live and move and have your being. He is the Spirit Which directs your actions, offers you Its Thoughts, and guarantees your safety from all pain. He covers you with kindness and with care and love. He is with you wherever you go. GOD IS ALL. Thus, if you think you have forgotten Him, then you have dreamed the impossible dream.

It is not only possible for you to remember God, it is the most natural thing you can do, for you have never actually forgotten Him at all! Thank God, this is only a dream of forgetting. Forgetting your Father and His Love is just not something that you want to even contemplate. Instead, just commence remembering what you cannot forget. Ask to rest with Him in peace for a while.

Reveal Yourself to me, Father, for I am weary of the world I see. What will you have me see instead?

Lesson 223: God is my life. I have no life but His.

You were mistaken when you thought you lived apart from God -- a separate entity that moved in isolation, unattached, and housed within a body -- for you cannot be apart from Him. Your mind is in His Mind; you are One; Father and Son are inseparable. You have no other home but the one you have in Him. God has no Thoughts that are not part of you and in truth you have none but those of Him. You do not exist apart from each other in any way. Only the proclamation of guilt announces you are not His Son. And yet you are still innocent. Nothing can change Whom God creates.

Lesson 224: God is my Father, and He loves His Son.

Your true Identity is so secure, so lofty, sinless, glorious and great, so wholly beneficent and free from guilt, that Heaven looks to It (your true Identity) to give It light. Your true Identity lights the world as well. It is the gift your Father gave to you. There is no gift but this that can be either given or received. This is reality, and only This. Your true Identity is the end of illusions. It is the truth. Welcome It, and happily share It with the world. God is your Father, and He loves His Son.

Prayer:

Our Father, we appear to have forgotten who we are, and do not know where we are going, or what it is we do. Let us see the face of Christ instead of our mistakes. For we who are Your holy Son are sinless. We would look upon our sinlessness, for guilt proclaims that we are not Your Son. And we would not forget You longer. We are lonely here, and long for Heaven, where we are at home. Today we would return. Our Name is Yours, and we acknowledge that we are Your Son. Amen.
